Gregory Wheadon is a native of East Saint Louis, Illinois where his creative endeavors
began after being discharged from the United States Navy. He attended Katherine
Dunham's Performing Arts Training Center where he trained in percussions and Karate.
A short course in creative writing helped to launch his Poetry. He performed his poems
on independent radio stations around the metro-east area before moving to Los Angeles
in 1989. The following year he joined the Homeless Writers Coalition and started
performing with the group and this ultimately led to him being featured on the album
SIDEWALK PROPHETS, released in 1996 on the Triplex label. Through this association
came the opportunity to try his hand at acting. He was featured in several plays and
eventually landed a lead role in the highly acclaimed adaptation of the classic Maxim
Gorky play THE LOWER DEPTHS, directed by Michael McGee. He is currently
working on his first screenplay about his activities in the Black Panther Party.
